Youth Unemployment: Macron's Biggest Challenge?

The chart above shows French youth unemployment rates over the last 17 years. Following the financial crisis in 2007/8 youth unemployment rose to over 22% and despite recent improvements it still remains over 23%.

Polls show that in the first round that Le Pen was the most popular candidate amongst young people by some margin. The FT says that unemployment is driving young people to radical parties of left and right.

Reducing youth unemployment is arguably the biggest challenge facing Macron.
